OK: Marijuana Legalization Battle Heats Up

“I’m on the front lines of the war on drugs, I’m down there representing people getting caught with small amounts of marijuana and pounds of marijuana,” said criminal defense attorney Jay Ramey. [Jay is based in Tulsa Oklahoma, but works all over the state.]

Well, me too, but not in Oklahoma. Jay is a friend, and how he fights in the trenches in OK day in and out is anyone’s guess, but he’s a hero for doing so. I had one case that traversed Oklahoma. Jay was good enough to help me out with that case. It seems that everyone with any sort of decent quantity of pot gets 16 months on OK. That’s prison, folks. That’s not OK. Ouch.

In California we have Prop 215 and SB 420, also known as the CUA and MMPA. Any way you slice it, we have medical marijuana. There is no like corollary in OK. In OK, the fight now is to halt an attempt to stop the influx of that lawful Colorado Marijuana into the State. Legalize it, don’t criticize it.

So read the whole article here and join me in saluting our Comrade in Arms (Jay is a hard core communist – I’m kidding – Libertarian) for the great work he does day in and day out.

Jay Ramey and I are both members of the NORML Legal Committee, and are dissidents therein in that we voice our objections to NORML’s slow, incremental and mainstream approach to legalization. We believe in a more progressive and aggressive approach, and we’ll continue the dialogue until no more people in America go to jail for that plant.

Once again – legalize it, don’t criticize it.

  1. Who can figure out these dopey hash tags ####
Looks like pounds to me. How about the story that Dershowitz was balling some underage young lady, along with Prince Andrew (though the study doesn’t specify whether it was at the same time).
